Creative Photos Inspired by The Seven Deadly Sins

The seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins, have long been a source of inspiration for writers and artists, from morality tales of the Middle Ages to modern manga series and video games.

Seven deadly sins

Here are some creative photographs inspired by Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Sloth, Pride, Greed and Envy plus a famous quote for each of those seven deadly sins.

Gluttony

“Gluttony is an emotional escape, a sign something is eating us.” - Peter De Vries

Lust

“The most violent appetites in all creatures are lust and hunger; the first is a perpetual call upon them to propagate their kind, the latter to preserve themselves.” - Joseph Addison

Wrath

“Fairest and dearest, your wrath and anger are more heavy than I can bear; but learn that I cannot tell what you wish me to say without sinning against my honour too grievously.” - Marie de France

Sloth

“Sloth like rust, consumes faster than labor wears, while the used key is always bright.” - Benjamin Franklin

Pride

“A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you’re looking down, you can’t see something that’s above you.” - C.S. Lewis

Greed

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed.” - Mahatma Gandhi

Envy

“Envy consists in seeing things never in themselves, but only in their relations. If you desire glory, you may envy Napoleon, but Napoleon envied Caesar, Caesar envied Alexander, and Alexander, I daresay, envied Hercules, who never existed.” - Bertrand Russell

    Splendid photos !!!!!

Can’t think of any other superlatives to describe these photos.

Congratulations to all involved in making these shots so perfect.

These photos are ridiculous. On the off chance that one of them embodies the idea of the sin, the models (specifically the male model) ruin it with their tendicy to ham it up. I laughed more than anything. Utter garbage is what these are.

I usually never comment on pictures but these are worth it, and I must say they are the weakest most obvious pieces ive seen in a while………… next time try harder

I was excited to see that someone had posted “seven deadly sins” but much to my dismay, these are absolutely awful. beautiful female model, and slightly (to say the most) okay pictures. amateur at best.

crappy pictures, stupid models (especially the guy who does the exact same face throughout all the pics), i see no connections btw the sins n the pics

    purely weak

next time think abt it 1st, then really put ur heart into it, don’t bullshit people again

  19. 19 ferris Jun 15th, 2009 at 1:07 am

yeah really, the photoshop work is good but i don’t see how this is amazing or note worthy. they’re okay pictures, but not really that great at showing the 7 deadly sins. it looks like a bunch of people goofing around with fancy lighting and computer tricks.

    LAME

I thought these were pretty neat. It’s a shame the male model wasn’t very good at being honest in the photos. His face was very fake and staged. Next time, find a model that can really capture the emotions without it looking staged.

I agree, with someone, I’m sure of it. I’m not the only one with this opinion, due to sheer amount of people out there.

These pictures are alright. There’s a lot of talent involved, but the relationship isn’t there. Check out the childhood fear ones. Those are childhood fears. This is just a shirtless guy taking pictures of his girlfriend with a loose theme barely played out. Sorry, but your talent is there, it needs to be refined by critisisms and failures. Good luck

Reading the negative critical remarks, I am reminded of the aphorisms: “everyone’s
a critic” and “opinions are like assholes: everyone has one”. A harshly negative opinion should contain a link leading to that critic’s (purportedly superior) work
in the same vein. I submit that the leading critics have at best limited experience
taking vacation snapshots with a point-and-shoot. Perhaps they are troubled by the
darker places these works lead them to. I admire the work here, especially the nightmare-like representations of childhood fears.
